"If you are a fan of history, or historic places, this is a must visit. Our tour group was small and felt very personal, lead by a very knowledgeable guide. You are brought to each room on the first and second floors and given not only information about that room, but stories about the family and their role during the Revolutionary War and beyond. The tour also includes the basement kitchen, which is remarkably preserved and includes fantastic period pieces.
The last part of the tour was up the hill a short walk in a restored period barn that has been relocated to the spot that the original barn stood. It includes a pretty extensive collection of Lancaster area Grandfather clocks and other pieces. The guide gave a brief explanation of what is included in this collection and then let us loose for self guided exploration.
Important note, although there is a Porta Potty in the parking area, there are very nice and clean restrooms available up at the barn building. On the day we went, there was only one employee available for the two buildings, so access may depend on if a tour is going on at the home." - Alaena H.
