"This is going to be a tough one to write. Yesterday August 6th we had to put my dog to sleep. We discovered he had terminal cancer the day before when it spread everywhere and he had fluid building up in his chest cavity slowly suffocating him.
After giving him a steroid shot and making sure it was safe we took him home for one last good day of being spoiled to say goodbye. With an appointment for the next day.
On the way to the vet we stopped at Agway to let him pick out toys to bring with him. New toys were his favorite. He wandered around the store really slowly looking at everything. Every toy he picked up I bought.
And the one girl working there bright him a treat while he was looking around. Shockingly he actually ate it as.... The fluid was also blocking his stomach so when he ate his stomach swelled and he couldn't breathe as much for it..... But he actually ate it.
They didn't know it was his last hour.... On his last day. But they treated him like it was anyway. Never impatient with an old slow dog.... Instead they are especially kind. And they have no idea how much that meant.
I didn't get their names because I had tears in my eyes but thank you. Thank you so much. For making his last moments as happy as possible." - David P.
